St. Louis Marie de Montfort

St. Louis-Marie de MontfortSt. Louis Marie de Montfort was born on January 31st, 1679. Incredibly pious from his youth, St. Louis renounced all worldly possessions at the age of nineteen, giving all his money and even his clothes away as he journeyed on foot to Paris. There he was ordained a priest at the age of twenty-seven.

He spent the rest of his life as a missionary in his native France, preaching against worldliness and the harsh heresy of the Jansenists. Enduring hardships, ridicule, even attempted poisonings and assassinations, he brought many souls to Christ. He also founded two religious orders: the Sisters of Wisdom and the Company of Mary. One of his greatest legacies is the spiritual masterpiece “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary,” and many of the faithful use his method to consecrate themselves to the Blessed Mother.

St. Louis de Montfort passed to the Lord on April 25, 1716.
