St. Olivia

There is not much known about Olivia, however, the legend has it that she was born of noble blood in Palermo, Italy. At the age of 13, she was carried to Tunis by Muslims who were raiding the city. She was allowed to live in a nearby cave because of her beauty, but when Muslims found that cures and miracles were converting many of the men, she was imprisoned and tortured.

She converted the executioners that were ordered to burn her to death. When this attempt on her life failed, she was beheaded. Witnesses say that at the time of her death, her soul flew to heaven in the shape of a dove. To this day, Tunisian Muslims believe God will punish those who speak poorly of her.

St. Olivia is the patron saint of music and has a mosque of her name in Tunis. Her feast day is June 10.
