St. Valentine is most universally associated with love and relationships. Modern-day secular traditions of his feast day have very little to do with his life and example; however, when looking into the life of St. Valentine, the ultimate model of Christian love and relationship becomes very clear.
As a priest who worked diligently to protect Roman Christians under the persecution of Claudius II, St. Valentine spent his life sharing the love of God with others. When his faith got him in trouble with the Roman officials, he was sentenced to death. His martyrdom is a shining example of the words of Christ, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Learn more about St. Valentine.
