As a young fourteen-year-old girl, St. Bernadette received a vision of the Virgin Mary. This vision, just one in a series of eighteen, served to demonstrate the mercy, love, and concern for the salvation of souls that Our Lady has for all people. As with each vision more people came to witness St. Bernadette’s communications with Our Lady, the stream of pilgrims to this holy site continues to this day, where many miracles have taken place. Though St. Bernadette was ridiculed and even threatened for sharing about what she had seen (many people believing she was crazy), she was strong enough in her faith and so much in love with God that she suffered through the harsh treatment in order to testify to the truth of what Our Lady had revealed to her.
