St. Aidan of Lindesfarne Medal
St. Aidan is an Irish saint who is pictured standing in front of a celtic cross and holding up a lit torch. He founded the Lindesfarne Monastery and was known for his eloquent preaching and holiness. He is know to have turned back the flames engulfing the city walls of Bambrough. The city was surrounded and attackers piled wood around it to burn them out. When St. Aidan prayed for help and the change in wind blew smoke and flames over the enemy.
